What Your Pitch Matching Score Means
This pitch matching tool gives a letter score (A, B, C, etc.) based on how closely your sung pitch matches the target pitch over a short period of time. The score reflects accuracy and consistency, not musical ability or potential.
🟢 A or A-Level Scores
An A score usually means:
-
Your voice stayed very close to the target pitch
-
You adjusted quickly when you drifted off
-
Your pitch was relatively steady
This suggests strong ear–voice coordination for that exercise.
🔵 B-Level Scores
A B score usually means:
-
You matched the pitch part of the time
-
Your voice drifted slightly sharp or flat
-
You may have corrected more slowly
This is very common and shows the skill is actively developing.
🟠 C-Level Scores (or lower)
A C score usually means:
-
Your voice was often above or below the target pitch
-
Your ear is still learning to identify the pitch
-
Your voice may not yet be responding consistently
This is normal for beginners and young singers and does not mean someone “can’t sing.”
Important Things to Know About the Score
-
The score is based on how close your pitch stays to the target, not on tone quality or musicality
-
Scores can change from one attempt to the next
-
Pitch matching is a coordination skill that improves with practice
-
Fatigue, distraction, or excitement can affect scores — especially for kids
A lower score simply means this skill is still developing.
How to Use the Score Productively
-
Focus on improving consistency, not chasing an A
-
Practice matching short notes, not long held ones
-
Aim for small improvements over time, not perfection
Professional vocal coaches look for patterns, not single scores.
Important Note for Parents
This score is not a diagnosis and does not measure:
-
Musical talent
-
Intelligence
-
Effort
-
Potential
It only reflects pitch matching accuracy during that moment.

Pitch Matching Tool FAQs
What is a pitch matching tool?
A pitch matching tool helps you practice matching a target note with your voice. You sing, the tool detects your pitch, and you get feedback on how close you are to the note.
How does pitch matching help me learn to sing on pitch?
Learning to sing on pitch starts with ear–voice coordination: hearing a note and reproducing it accurately. Pitch matching practice strengthens that coordination so singing in tune becomes more automatic over time.
Is this the same as an AI vocal coach?
Not exactly. This tool provides real-time pitch feedback to support practice. A vocal coach provides personalized instruction, diagnosis of what’s causing pitch issues, and tailored exercises.
What does the letter score mean (A, B, C)?
The letter score is an automatic summary of how closely and consistently your sung pitch matched the target pitch during that attempt. It reflects accuracy in that moment, not musical talent or long-term potential.
What’s a good score for beginners or kids?
Beginners often start with mixed results, and scores can bounce around. The goal is not an “A” every time. The goal is steadier matching and gradual improvement week to week.
Why does my score change so much from one try to the next?
Pitch matching is affected by focus, fatigue, room noise, microphone quality, and how long you hold notes. Short attempts and a quiet room usually produce more consistent results.
How should I practice with this tool?
Use short, simple notes. Match the pitch, reset, and repeat. One to two minutes of focused practice is usually better than a long session where you get tired or start guessing.
