Live Concerts and Stage Performances

One question I love to ask professional colleagues of mine in showbiz is this: "Do you remember the exact show you saw when you were a kid that made you say, 'Yep, this is it. This is what I'm going to do with my life.'?" The answer, 99.99% of the time is an enthusiastic, "YES," followed by any number of details about it, like who was in it, what specific number changed their life, or something else they committed to memory because it touched them at the time. Mine? A production of the musical "Gypsy" by the Augusta Players, my hometown's community theatre troupe, starring local star-of-stage Debbie Ballas as Mama Rose, and her actual daughter playing Gypsy Rose Lee. Before then, I knew nothing about the show, and after that matinee performance, I'll never forget it.

Live concerts and stage performances just have that magic ability to open the pathways and help us dream bigger than we have ever dreamed before. They afford us a chance to think outside of the boxes we grew up in and explore an entire universe of possibilities that are just waiting to be explored.

...So, as you can probably predict, any chance I have to be a part of a live concert or stage production, I think about all the young people out there who might see this, and I really lean into whatever my role is for each particular project in hopes that it might be one of those kid's "first performance they saw" that really changed the game for them and the trajectory of their life. How cool would that be, if I was actually a part of a project that changed one life? (The answer: VERY cool.)

Below, you'll find a sample of my work covering everything from Andrea Bocelli concerts to NFL games to nationally televised Broadway musicals to a tribute to an icon's lifetime of artistic contributions. Color me lucky to have had such cool projects under my belt. And there's still more to come.
