How many vocal coaches are on staff, and who will I be studying with?

At Tour de Fierce®, there is only one vocal coach: Joseph “Seph” Stanek (the Founder). This is a boutique enterprise, which means every singer works directly with Joseph. Unlike many larger vocal studios—especially in New York City—where the “big name” coach often outsources clients to junior staff in order to scale capacity, Joseph never delegates his singers. After two decades in the entertainment industry, he has never found another coach who operates at his level of instinct and experience. Tour de Fierce® is built on complete transparency: you always know exactly who you’re studying with and what you’re paying for from your very first interaction.

What types of clients do you work with?

I coach singers, actors, recording artists, public speakers, conservatory students, and ambitious beginners. All ages and skill levels. A typical day at Tour de Fierce® might start with an Academy Award® winner in my New York City studio, continue with back-to-back virtual lessons for singers around the globe (including complete beginners), include an in-person session with a neighbor down the street, and end with late-night coachings for Broadway professionals right after their evening shows.

What musical styles do you teach?

While I am known for coaching pop, rock, classical, and Broadway singers, I am equally skilled at coaching opera/operetta, hip-hop, R&B, jazz, metal, sacred, chant, blues, country, singer-songwriter, reggaeton, rap, chanson, lieder, art songs, and cross-over styles. I haven’t encountered a genre that has evaded my expertise in 20 years.

What singing techniques do you teach?

My formal training—both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees—is rooted in the Italian bel canto tradition, which I consider the foundation from which every other vocal technique can be learned. As a Master of Music, I’ve made it my mission to study and master as many vocal specializations as possible. These include classical and contemporary approaches such as belting, straight-tone, falsetto, countertenor, patter singing, vocal percussion, vocalise, scat singing, vocal improvisation, and a wide range of extended techniques like distortion (screaming, growl, rattle, creaking). I also train singers in riffing and melismatic phrasing, stylistic ornamentation, and dozens of comedic and character-based singing techniques. Do you offer free trial lessons?

Yes—when my schedule allows, I offer a free 30-minute trial lesson for singers I haven’t worked with before. To request availability and book a free trial lesson, visit the Contact page and submit a form. I will respond as soon as I am able. If no openings are available, I’ll add you to the waiting list and reach out directly when you're next in line.

How many clients can you take on at once?

Because Tour de Fierce® is a boutique, founder-led enterprise, availability is limited. Every service is personally delivered by Joseph “Seph” Stanek, which means only a select number of artists can be booked at a time. Do you offer payment plans?

Yes. Payment plans are available for vocal coaching subscriptions and larger-scale projects. Our most popular offering is the subscription option, which includes weekly 60-minute lessons at half the standard rate, plus a free trial lesson.
