How In-Person Voice Lessons Work
In-person voice lessons take place at the Tour de Fierce Music Studio in Astoria, Queens, New York, offering singers a hands-on, immersive coaching experience that cannot be replicated online. Each session is conducted one-on-one and tailored to the individual's voice, goals, physical coordination, and performance demands of the singer.
Every singer begins with a comprehensive vocal assessment that evaluates range, registration, breath coordination, resonance, vocal health, diction, habitual tension patterns, and stylistic strengths. From there, lessons focus on developing reliable technique, expressive freedom, and performance confidence through real-time correction, physical cueing, and guided repetition.
Because Joseph is physically present in the same room as the singer, adjustments to posture, breath mechanics, jaw, tongue, and body alignment can be addressed immediately — allowing for faster breakthroughs and more efficient vocal development.
Inside the Tour de Fierce® Music Studio
Step inside the Tour de Fierce® Music Studio — a private, immersive vocal training space nestled in Astoria, Queens, where comfort meets performance-grade coaching. Designed to feel like home (because it is) and aesthetically enhanced for artistry to flourish, the Music Studio blends creative flair with practical features that help singers improve quickly and efficiently.
You’ll work with a classic 1986 polished ebony Kawai NS-15 piano, known for its rich tone and fluid action, making live accompaniment feel effortless and musical. A beautiful gold-framed rehearsal mirror allows you to refine posture and alignment while connecting your physical presence to your vocal delivery. The studio’s glitter vinyl-acoustic walls shape pristine sound, ensuring you hear your voice clearly and honestly in every register. After your session, unwind in the private garden oasis or enjoy the studio's assorted amenities like a fully stocked kitchen and private bathroom.
Private, Distraction-Free Vocal Training in New York City
Training in person at the Tour de Fierce® Music Studio offers something increasingly rare in New York City: true privacy and psychological safety. Unlike shared rehearsal facilities such as Ripley-Grier or Shetler Studios, you are not surrounded by thin walls, hallway traffic, or other performers listening in. There are no neighboring studios, no waiting actors outside your door, and no anxious pressure keeping you from really setting your voice and artistry free.
The studio is located on the garden level of a fully detached, historic, private townhouse, with a dedicated, acoustically treated space, allowing singers to explore their full dynamic and emotional range without fear of being overheard. This freedom is essential for real growth — especially when working through vocal breakthroughs, emotional material, or stylistic experimentation.
Every design choice, from sound treatment to layout, supports one goal: helping you feel safe enough to be big, bold, vulnerable, and honest with your voice.
Your Instructor | Professional Experience & Credentials
All in-person voice lessons at Tour de Fierce® are taught by Joseph “Seph” Stanek, a New York City–based vocal coach, Broadway performer, and Billboard-charting producer with two decades of professional experience at the highest levels of the entertainment industry.
Joseph has worked closely with world-class artists including Ariana Grande, Kristin Chenoweth, Jennifer Hudson, and performers affiliated with major Broadway productions, television networks, and international concert stages. His coaching approach blends healthy bel canto vocal technique, contemporary commercial styles, performance psychology, and real-world industry insight — ensuring singers are not only vocally capable, but professionally prepared.
In-person sessions allow Joseph to apply hands-on physical cueing, posture and breath alignment, resonance shaping, and immediate acoustic feedback — tools that simply aren’t possible in the same way online. This makes the Tour de Fierce® Music Studio an ideal environment for singers who want precision, depth, and rapid progress.
Who Thrives in the Tour de Fierce® Studio
The Tour de Fierce® Music Studio is designed for singers who deserve better than a semi-public, overused rehearsal room. In-person lessons with Joseph Stanek are especially powerful for:
Performers preparing for auditions, recordings, or live shows
Artists who benefit from physical cueing and embodied technique work
Singers who feel inhibited in shared studio environments
Professionals who need a confidential space to explore material freely
Beginners seeking a warm, non-judgmental environment to build confidence
Because the space is private, aesthetically intentional, and free from outside distractions, singers often report feeling more relaxed, expressive, and willing to take creative risks — leading to faster and more sustainable vocal growth.
An In-Person Coaching Experience Unlike Anywhere Else in NYC
The Tour de Fierce® studio experience is intentionally different from traditional New York rehearsal culture. This is not a fluorescent-lit rental room with a clock ticking down your session. It is a curated artistic environment where sound, space, and atmosphere work together.
From the colorful visual design to the studio’s acoustics, mirror placement, and live piano accompaniment, every detail supports deep focus and artistic exploration. The goal is not just to “get through a lesson,” but to create a space where singers feel grounded, supported, and inspired — a place where stars are born.
