The Dual Voice Method Vocal Coaching by Tour de Fierce

My name is Joseph Stanek, and I’ve created, developed, and perfected a method of vocal coaching that has given my singers incredible results again, and again, and again, in a fraction of the time it takes with other vocal coaches (and at a fraction of the cost, too!). You cannot—and will not—find it anywhere else in the world. In my 17 years of searching, I've seen the same old tired approach to vocal coaching over and over and over. I've never encountered another vocal coach who approaches vocal coaching this way. And every singer I've taught it to has experienced mind-blowing results in record time.

I've named it the Dual Voice Method of Vocal Coaching, and on this page, I’ll go into detail about what it is, how it compares with traditional and "YouTube" vocal coaching, and why I guarantee that it will change your singing forever.

Try This Exercise

But first, let’s start with an exercise.

Take a moment to think of the most iconic singing performances in history—they can be from any genre. The raw energy of death metal, the soaring passion of opera, the liquid groove of rap, the soul of sacred music... Maybe you’re picturing Freddie Mercury, Elvis Presley, Amy Winehouse, Madonna, ABBA, Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion—or even The Phantom of the Opera or Hamilton.

Got a few specific singing performances in mind?

Now here’s something you probably haven’t realized...

No matter which performances you chose, every single one was made possible by mastering one powerful, transformative, very straightforward, simple, and easy-to-remember formula.

And here’s the part that might surprise you: this formula is not some mysterious, unattainable secret reserved for the supernaturally gifted or the one-in-a-million lucky few. In fact, I’m about to tell you exactly what it is.

I call it The Dual Voice Method.

Vision

I’ve studied all of the greats. I’ve worked with many of them, too. And after 17 years in this industry—coaching artists who headline arenas, star on Broadway, and record for major studios—I’ve boiled the greatest singing performances in history down to two essential ingredients.

Think about it. The singers who leave audiences breathless, who make history with their voices, who create performances that stand the test of time—what do they all have in common?

  • It’s not range.

  • It’s not just technique.

  • It’s not just raw emotion.

The answer is far simpler—yet more elusive—than most singers ever realize.

The Dual Voice Method of Vocal Coaching

The most unforgettable performances are forged from the synthesis of our two voices:

  1. The Physical Voice – Your technical instrument. Trained, strengthened, and refined through expert technique.

  2. The Inner Voice – Your emotional core. The storyteller. The unfiltered truth that resonates from your soul.

Every iconic performance throughout history has successfully trained each voice on its own and then synthesized them together, yielding unbelievable results. Masterfl performances require both voices together. On their own, they fall flat.

  • Without either one of the voices, performances aren't memorable.

  • Without one of the voices, performances are incomplete; the absence of the ability to sing or the inauthentic nature of the performance becomes a distraction and audiences are left perturbed.

  • Great vocal performances involve mastery of the vocals per the challenges set forth in the music AND a level of interpretation that reflects Truth in the soul of the performer.

...And Yet, No One is Teaching Singers This Way.

Honestly, this is the very first time I’ve made my vocal coaching services publicly available. Up until now, I’ve worked exclusively with a roster of professional singers, all of whom found me through word-of-mouth. But the landscape of vocal coaching has changed—and not for the better.

One of the biggest reasons I’m now actively seeking singers to train is because of something I call "The Rise of the YouTube Vocal Coach." The internet has become flooded with overnight "experts"—people who watch a video, learn just enough jargon to sound convincing, and then turn around and regurgitate a watered-down version of the same material on their own channel. Worse, many of these so-called coaches sell singing courses filled with pitch-corrected vocal exercises, which is not just unethical—it’s a scam.

Think about that for a second. A course designed to teach singers how to sing in tune… using lip-synced, auto-tuned examples. Watch this Wings of Pegasus video exposing famed vocal coach Cheryl Porter’s pitch-corrected vocal exercises (video opens YouTube in a new window).

As someone who rarely checked in on the state of vocal coaching outside of my own studio, I was floored when I discovered what it had become. When I saw the damage being done, I felt called to step in as a voice for real, effective coaching—one that doesn’t set singers up for failure by introducing them to an impossible standard of digitally corrected pitch.

Because if we take a step back and look at this from a business standpoint, what these YouTube coaches are doing would be considered fraud in the U.S. court system. And yet, they’ve somehow convinced singers to pay money for the privilege of feeling worse about themselves.

The most mind-blowing part? They’ve done this with singing—which is supposed to be joyful, cathartic, fun. And the damage doesn’t stop there. (Which brings me to my next point...)

The Business of Vocal Coaching

A lot of vocal coaches out there get a little too caught up in the business side of this industry. And if you think about it, it's easy to see how things could easily go astray...

Pretend that you are a vocal coach looking to make some COIN. If all you cared about was money, your goal would be to have a set of loyal students who take weekly lessons for life. As with any service-based job, predictable and steady streams of income take a lot of stress off your plate; that means you can reliably pay rent on time each month, you can open a savings account, you can live like an actual adult. Once you've finally curated this roster of loyal weekly singers and reaping the benefits of steady income, you can see how easily someone in a similar situation might do everything in their power to keep each of those customers coming back week after week, year after year.

...Even if that meant purposely making sure they never actually become independent, smart musicians who are fulfilled by the act of singing.

Is that unethical? Absolutely. But is it how a lot of vocal coaches operate? Oh, without question. And they do it with a smile on their faces.

They dangle just enough progress in front of their students to keep them hopeful. They recycle the same vocal warm-ups, the same tired exercises, the same “you’re almost there, just a little more work” script. They keep their students satisfied—but never fulfilled—because actual fulfillment means no longer needing them.

That’s not coaching. That’s a trap.

I Want You to Leave My Studio! Here's Why:

The way I see it, my job is to make myself obsolete. When I take on a singer, my sole focus is to train them so thoroughly to develop healthy, powerful performance habits and self-correcting techniques that they no longer need me. That’s the whole point.

I want you to be so good at what we do together that eventually, I only see you:

  • Once a year for a tune-up.

  • Or maybe you'll ask me to tag along with you and your crew for two weeks of your GRAMMY® campaign for in-person vocal warm-ups and that extra confidence boost.

  • Maybe you’ll want me around on a luxury vacation (or ten) at Las Ventanas al Paraíso in Cabo to thank me for changing your life.

  • Maybe you’ll FaceTime me on random Tuesdays at noon because you miss our weekly time slot together.

(These things really happen to me. Some more often than others...)

But just because I want you to become an independent, smart, self-correcting singer doesn't mean we rush through the learning process. We go at the most efficient pace for you—one that I adjust every session based on where you are, both vocally and emotionally. My time with my singers is sacred—and we cover everything you need, nothing you don’t, and only what gets you to your goals in the fastest, smartest way possible. With my coaching, you will get to the level of performances you thought of at the beginning of this page, and you'll get there faster, smarter, and by spending a whole lot less money than you would with another vocal coach who may or may not have your best interests at heart.

From someone who genuinely cares about the future of singing, if there's one thing you take away from reading this page, let it be this: please invest in your training wisely—start training for the kind of performances that change lives—yours included.
