In the summer of 2007, Joseph Stanek made his professional opera debut at the prestigious Lyrique en Mer festival on the stunning island of Belle-Île-en-Mer, France. As part of this highly ambitious and critically acclaimed production of La Traviata, Joseph performed multiple roles:
Commissionario, a commanding presence at the heart of the opera’s dramatic moments.
Piquillo, a dancer role requiring both physicality and musicality.
And stepping in as Il Barone, opposite internationally renowned soprano Lyubov Petrova as Violetta—a thrilling responsibility in Seph’s very first professional engagement.
Joseph also sang in the chorus, contributing to the lush, romantic sound that defined this production of Verdi’s beloved masterpiece.
This experience was not just a performance milestone; it was a transformational chapter in Joseph’s artistic journey. Singing and dancing alongside world-class artists in a fully staged opera, on an island famous for its beauty and artistic spirit, forged a lifelong connection to both La Traviata and the operatic stage.
To this day, La Traviata remains one of Seph’s favorite operas—an emotional, vocal, and theatrical tour de force that he holds close to his heart.
